Our Story

Why We Started MyRecoverEase

MyRecoverEase was born from personal experience. After three knee surgeries following a sports-ending injury on the rugby field, our founder Alex discovered something that too many post-surgical patients discover, that the standard of care drops significantly the moment you leave hospital.

Ice packs weren't enough. Cheap alternatives didn't deliver results. Without effective pain and swelling management, the cycle became relentless, prolonged pain, delayed physiotherapy, and the mental toll of a recovery that felt like it wasn't progressing.

It was only after Alex's third surgery, when he finally had access to the NICE1 cold and compression machine, that things changed. He was back in physiotherapy sooner, managing his pain more effectively, and recovering in the comfort of his own home. The difference was stark.

That experience led to a simple question: why should access to professional-grade recovery equipment depend on luck or cost? With the combined expertise of a specialist physiotherapist, an orthopaedic professional, a former elite athlete, and a chartered accountant, MyRecoverEase was built to make the answer simple, it shouldn't.

My third surgery was the one that changed everything. For the first time I had access to the NICE1 cold and compression machine, and the difference in my recovery was remarkable. That experience is the reason MyRecoverEase exists.

Five People. One Mission.

Alexander Budd
Founder abudd@myrecoverease.je

Alex is a qualified chartered accountant and a passionate rugby fan who played for Jersey Reds Athletic, representing the club in two Siam Cup fixtures. In 2021, he suffered a dislocated knee during a match, rupturing his medial cruciate ligament, anterior cruciate ligament, and sustaining a full bucket handle meniscus tear.

Over the following three years, Alex underwent three corrective surgeries in the United Kingdom. Each recovery presented the same frustrating challenge: once home, managing pain and swelling effectively felt impossible. He tried numerous cold and compression therapy machines during this period, but found most fell short, either inconsistent in temperature, uncomfortable to use, or simply unable to deliver the results his recovery required.

It was following his third surgery, when Alex first used the NICE1 cold and compression machine, that everything changed. The improvement in his recovery experience compared to the previous two was remarkable, he returned to physiotherapy sooner, managed his pain more effectively, and for the first time felt genuinely in control of his recovery at home.

Recognising that other patients deserved the same access, he joined forces with the wider team to found MyRecoverEase, ensuring that no one has to navigate post-surgical recovery without the right tools.
